Resolved Question: 1992 Ford Mustang parts list?

I'm not sure what I should get for my new Mustang. It's only an 2.3 four cylinder but it has some potential. Can you give my some easy performance up grades that would give me a little more from it. Say a cold air intake kit shat would help, look good, fit and not cost to much because i'm still in school. Or anything else that is easy. Thanks :) more

Voting Question: 92 Ford Mustang, Auto to manual swap?

I was thinking about buying a 1992 Mustang I was eyeballing...but one problem, it's an auto. I really like manuals, I don't mind auto but I think manuals are a lot more fun to drive. It has a 2.3 four cylinder engine, so I was wondering, how I could do this, what I would need and how much could this cost (with used parts or new). You don't have to answer all three. Thanks. Thanks guys, I'm not going to do the swap, but I do think I might buy it only because I'm in school and it has to be under 100,000 miles, a small engine that does not burn as much fuel and it can not have much rust ect. This car fits all of the standards that I need so thank you all for your help. :)I ended up buying it, it is a beast for only an XL. This spring she's going to get a paint job. There are some little things here and there that I have to touch up on but for a 92 it's pretty good. more

Resolved Question: Place these cars from 1st to last in a race!!!!!!!?

Put these cars the the order you think they will win in a drag race going in a straight line up to around 60 mph. I'm not talking about long distance. Just a short race. OK here are the cars: *1998 Mustang GT automatic - with a average Cold Air Intake and Cat back exhaust *1995 Mustang GT Manual - completely stock *1998 ford tauras automatic - completely stock *1999 mercury cougar manual - completely stock *1992 eagle talon manual - completely stock (*not the turbo engine) *1992 eagle talon tsi awd manual - (this is the turbo) with catback and cold air intake and a few other mods This is assuming all drivers have the SAME racing experience. Please no critisizm....this is just for fun! more

Voting Question: Should I buy this 1992 Ford Crown Victoria Convertible from Craigslist? ?

http://raleigh.craigslist.org/cto/953878032.html Quote Email sent to me from seller about car: OK, here is the best I can do: The Car is Automatic (All Crown Vic's are - Or at least come from the factory that way. If I wasn't selling it I would put a 5 speed in) The Car was my primary transportation for about 4 years, I drove back and forth from Greenville (about a 200 mile round trip) once or twice a week and it never let me down or left me stranded. I bought it from a guy in Charlotte because I just had to have a 'Cop Car', drove it back to Greenville, and noticed the car had no Oil pressure. LESSON ONE: Cop cars are surplused out becuase they are worn out. I swapped another police motor into the car, which lasted the next 4 years. LESSON TWO: Crown Vic's were designed to be fleet cars and are very easy to work on, if you have the right tools you can swap an engine out in an afternoon. Apparently I never learned lesson one or I woudn't have swaped in another police motor becuase after 4 years it blew a head gasket. I bought a $400 beat to crap Toyota pickup to go pick the third motor up with (which is the motor in the car now, a 2002 out of a Civlian Mercury Marque with 61K on it) and about that time the Gas started to get expensive and the Toyota got around 35 MPG so I basicly parked the Vic and drove the Toyota from there on. When I swaped the motor in I also replaced the radiator with a Heavy duty replacement (correct for the police package). The Current motor (the 2002 motor with 61K on it) runs great, better than either of the police motors that were in the car. I wouldn't hesatate to get in and take it on a 500 mile trip. Here is the bad news; The transmission shakes. The transmission has shaken since day one, I remember it shaking when I test drove it in Charlotte, I remember it shaking all the way back to Greenville. I attribute this to LESSON ONE (see above) although a transmission shop may be able to flush the fluid or adjust something to clear it up. I don't think it is on it's last leg because I drove it for 4 years with the same shake in it and it never got worse (although it never cleared up either). If you are a gear head you may already know the 92 Crown Vic came with an AOD-E transmission with Computer Controlled lock-up (AOD-E stands for Automatic OverDrive - Electronic). They only used this transmission for one year and then switched to a totally computer controlled transmission so you can't swap a later model Crown Vic transmission in it because the '92 computer won't control it. You might be able to swap an earlier transmission that requires no computer control (like a C4 or a C6) into it; or perhaps a 5 speed out of a mustang if you are really handy with fabrication. Or you can just leave it be like I did. Also the 2002 is the PI (Performance Improved) motor which has the factory ported heads and bigger cams in them, I think it is good for about 35 HP over the 92 spec engine. I love Crown Vics, they are the last American Rear Wheel Drive car that came with a V8 on a full frame. They are fast but don't feel like it cause of the suspension, they drink gas (I think this got 16 MPG no matter what) and you can hide 6 or 7 bodies in the trunk. There is nothing quite like it. I wacked the top off last summer so I could have a convertible and figured I would send it to the scrap yard after I had my fun with it. I just don't have the heart to do it. On a legal note, I got the car inspected the day before I cut the top off (june I think so it is good through june of '09). I don't know if it will pass inspection or not; there is no specific way to fail a car because of 'body work' but who knows? I usually go out in the country (like out to rural Knightdale or Wendell) to get 'questonable' cars inspected. Anyways, I have run way off track Yes, the car drives as is; nothing needs to be fixed on it. Shoot me an E-mail or give me a call; I take care of my father part time and don't have a conventional 9-5 job so I am pretty flexible as far as setting up a time to meet. Let me know what is good for you and I will make myself available more

Resolved Question: What car is entirely made in the USA? From start to finish?

I want to lease a new car and would like to get an American car. I have had tons of cars since I started driving in 1992. I know most cars even Jap cars are assembled here, but I dont want to give the Japs any money. I had a BMW a few years ago and that was like driving a dream. All the American cars I ever owned were a 1976 Firebird, 1974 Chevy Nova, 1995 Dodge Neon ( my first new car, was a piece of $hit ) and 2 Jeep Cherokees that have been awesome, a 1998 and 2001. I had a 1989 Hyundai GLS that was handmedown from my parents and that was crapola, even 4 years after it was new. I had a 1995 Camry that was good also until the motor went. I also had a Ford Mustang LX 5.0 and that didint last too long. I would like to keep my money within the country because the way things are ging here in the US, but I am sure its a longshot that ANY car is entirely made here from start to finish, assembled and anything. I think its terrible that our cars are made in some other country and assembled here. Peace out cubscout more

Resolved Question: 1992 Ford Mustang Automatic hatchback transmission problem?

Just bought this car from a master mechanic, he says the transmission is fine, it is just clogged and needs drained, but I know how people lie to you to get rid of their junk, so I am online asking. The transmission slips in drive, when you give it gas to go, so i let off and start over then it goes and runs great til I start all over at 25 mph. Do you think I got scre_wed or do you think the transmission is just clogged? The transmission fluid is full, and we added some of the no slip fluid but that didn't seem to make much difference, I am so used to getting scr_wed that it is rediculous. Thanks for all your answers I guess the only way I will know for sure is to spend more money, that I don't have. more

Can I get 200hp at the flywheel with bolt ons, or do I have to go with a power adder? If the motor is built correctly, will it still have this power reliably?
