I own a 1992 Pontiac Grand Prix SE with a 3.1 litre engine. Lately, actually ever since I've owned the car, it gets terrible gas mileage. She starts like a champ, and never wants to kill or is powerless, but 18 mpg on the highway just doesn't seem right for a small v6 engine. Friends following me before have mentioned they smell gas, and when I come to a stop I can smell it from inside the car. The car has 158000 miles on it. more

Open Question: How to murder/black out your vehicle?

I already have black paint, tinted windows, black specialty license plate, black rims, black headlight covers and black rims. I'm going to blacken the tail lights. What else can be "murdered out" on my vechicle? Its a 2004 Grand Prix GT2. Is there a way to black out the pontiac symbols and lettering ? ok here is the problem i'v had this car for almost a year my dad got it from one of his friends who fixes cars and resells them its nice i like no problems for a while then all of a sudden one day i start to slow down for a stop light then the car just shuts down im like WTF i put the car in park turn the key off then try restarting it it restarts right away so i drive off not to worried about it i tell my dad he says to let him know if it happens again so like a week or two go by then same think i start to slow down for a stop light make the stop then the car just dies i put it in park restarted it, it starts right up this goes on for a couple of months becoming more and more frequent eventually taking more trys to get it to start during which time my dad takes it to his friend he bought it from he looks at it runs test they all come back saying everything is fine they replace the fuel filter car starts working fine again for about 3 weeks then the same thing starts happening again they still dont know whats wrong and now the car wont even start anymore anyone know wats wrong more

I was told the car had a bad valve on the #2 cylinder causing it to idle rough, so I pulled the heads and had them rebuilt, then reinstalled them. I can't get the car to start now (not sure why) but I noticed that the #2 cylinder compression is only 30 psi. Can I assume that the ring on this cylinder is bad? 1986 Pontiac 6000 STE, 2.8L MPFI V6.Oh yeah, I was really careful with the pushrods. They're in the right places. Could this be a lifter problem? more

Engine Cooling problem 1999 Ford Escort 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 104000 miles My wife was driving the Escort home from work the other day, about a 45 min drive, and when she got home she told me the car was overheating. Apparently this has been happening for a while now, gradually getting worse. So, I took it for a short drive the next day. I just recently had the radiator and coolant tested, before this happened, and it was good. I watched for the fans to cut on, and they did, so that's working. I grabbed the hose near the thermostat and waited for the thermostat to open, and it did, so that's not the problem either. At this point, I suspect the water pump. I see some small coolant leakage, but I haven't yet identified where it is coming from, which brings me to my question. As you might know, the water pump is quite buried under the hood, so if I don't have to replace it, I don't want to, lol. I've had to replace a water pump before, on a Pontiac, and it had a weep hole that would leak if the water pump had failed. So, would the water pump on my Escort be weeping if it's failed? more
