I have some Asanti Rims on my 2007 Escalade and have had the wheel caps stolen a couple times, so i decided to go with a viper alarm system after doing research and determining it is the best. I went to a Tweeter and they also confirmed to me that it is the best. I bought it from Tweeter for $1,193.94 including install. When I bought it the salesman assured me it would cover my entire car especially my rims which was my priority. however once I got home I discovered that the motion detector only works if i am right against the front driver or passenger door and nowhere else on the car. the only way to set of the warning system or alarm on any other section of the car is to hit it with a little force. the rims in particular need to recieve a forcefull hit in order to set off the alarm. Does this alarm have trouble working with 2007 Escalades or did Tweeter do a terrible job with the install?Edit: I called tweeter and the guy assured me that it is at its most sensitive setting. This doesnt sound right to me because I dont understand how an alarm can only cover the front 2 doors

I had a Viper alarm installed in my 2004 Mustang when I bought it 4 years ago. I thought it had stopped working about 3 years ago and never had it checked out. I moved out of state and left all my "junk" including the remote and manual at home w/ my parents. Yesterday my original car bettery died so i had to buy and install a new one. All of a sudden the Viper car alarm started going off! I didn't know what to do and I just wanted it to stop, so I cut out the speaker. But my car is still flashing like the alarm is going off. Where exactly can I find the "brain"? By pressing the valet button does that stop the alarm forever, or will it go off again the next time I start my car? I hate this alarm, I just want it gone, can I cut it out w/out messing anything up w/ my car?

I have the Viper 791XV remote start/alarm installed in my car. The original remote was submerged in water. Now the damn alarm will not deactivate. The car will not even crank. I had it installed at Best Buy, so I went there to buy a new remote and to see how I could deactivate the alarm and the guy there was very rude. I ask him about the valet button that the manual talks about and was told they did'nt install them like that there. Then he asks me why would I need to have the alarm deactivated anyway. By now I'm pissed my his rudeness. And asked him well how in the hell am I suppose to drive my car. I ended up buying a new remote for like $200. I cannot even get the damn thing programmed. The new remote does the same thing the old remote does. So I was figuring the the old remote just needed to be reprogrammed. He says that they installed the system through my ignition instead of through the battery, not sure if he new it was a remote start also. But he had to pull a fuse out in order to shut the alarm off and I could crank the damn car. I had been sitting in a parking lot all day. Now the Interior dome light will not go off. I had to turn it off. And I do not like to get into a dark car at night. But at least I can drive it. Can anyone PLEASE help me out??? Sorry this was so long.

Is there some kind of sensor to to install inside the doors so they trigger the alarm if a door handle is lifted? I already have it set where if a door is opened, it activates the alarm. I am thinking about installing it on my 2007 Nissan Murano, but I'm not sure, because I'm planning on getting a second car, probably used, within the 2000 - 2004 year range, so I can use that for the long trips I take, so I don't put obsurd miles on my new vehicle.
But I've heard and read that car alarms can be bad for your cars electrical systems, and other problems... So I'm just wondering if I should just put it on the used car, or the new one, or maybe even get 2 alarms and put them on both? Do you think it would be ok? It is a Viper alarm, which has a good reputation for being one of the best...

I need to install some kind of car alarm/anti theft device for my 99 toyota camry ce. Circuit city said they can install Viper keyless entry with starter kill and impact sensor for $200. I don't want to spend that much. Does a steering lock help in anyway? What about ignition cut-off switch? How much will it cost to install?? Are there any places that can install some kind of security for upto $100??
